If you’re planning on travelling to Japan, I have some good news: it’s an amazing country. The people are friendly and respectful, the food is delicious and varied, and there are plenty of beautiful places to see.

Even if you’re not planning on living there permanently (which I highly recommend), it’s still worth visiting at least once while in the country! So here’s where I recommend going if your first time in Japan.
Osaka
When you think of Japan, Osaka is probably the first place that comes to mind.
The city is known for its vibrant nightlife, historic sites and food. There are plenty of things to do in Osaka, when you’re with guided tours Japan including visiting Osaka Castle, the Namba district and Shinkong Temple.
Osaka Castle was built in 1573 during Edo Period (1603~1867). Tokyo
Tokyo is the capital of Japan and one of the largest cities in the world. It has a population of over 13 million people, making it one of the most important places to visit if you’re travelling to Japan for the first time.
Tokyo is an incredibly large city with many attractions and things to do. There are plenty of museums, parks and gardens to explore as well as amazing food that will leave your taste buds craving more!
The people living there are also very friendly so don’t be afraid to ask any questions that arise during your travels around this fascinating country!
Hiroshima and Miyajima Island
Miyajima Island is a small island in Hiroshima Bay, which is just across from Miyajimaguchi Port. It’s very easy to get there and has many things to see and do. The main attractions are:
Itsukushima Shrine (also known as “The floating shrine”) – this shrine was built on an artificial island made from wood planks, but it washed away during a typhoon in 2011. Today you can still see how it used to look like with all the wooden planks removed;
- Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park – this park honours all victims who died during the bombing of Hiroshima.
- Atomic Bomb Dome – The dome was built after World War II as part of efforts toward reconciliation between tours Japan and its former enemies.
Hakone
If you’re looking for a day trip from Tokyo, consider visiting Hakone. It’s a great place to relax and take in the scenery. Hakone is famous for its hot springs (onsen), which are abundant throughout the area. If you’re feeling adventurous, try one of these activities:
- Bathing at an onsen waterfall
- Browsing through clothing stores in town
- Visiting one of Japan’s most famous temples
